Lecture Theatre ~ St Catharine's College, Cambridge
In this major project we were working with a wide range of professions and trades including an acoustic engineer, architect, electrical consultant, main contractor, electrical contractors and other trades. The audio-visual system within the auditorium provides a high quality system, flexible enough to support lectures and presentations, cinema with 5.1 surround sound, and small- to medium-sized gigs including manual mixing via tie lines located in floorboxes and wall panels. Theatrical and room lighting is also under the control of the AV system, and presets within the control system allow the room to be set up as a theatre, hall or venue seamlessly from the iPad without any need for physical re-configuration. This flexibility makes the venue extremely versatile, and an important part of the both the college’s educational and social functions.
Demonstration Suite ~ Warwick
Within a new demonstration suite, our client needed an AV system to show off their technology in it’s best light. We designed and installed a system consisting of two linkable rooms; a presentation room with three 70” displays, including a touchscreen, and an ante room with two 46” displays, also touch-enabled. The two rooms can function as combined space, or as separate rooms for presentations or meetings and floorboxes in either room can be routed to any or all of the screens, with all signals scaled to 1080P HD. System control is via two interlinked iPads, for which we created striking graphics which co-ordinate with the colour scheme and complement the hi-tech image of the space.
Audio Visual Relay ~ Merton College, Cambridge
In celebration of Merton College's 750th year, a new organ was commissioned from Dobson Organ Builders, USA.
We designed and installed an audio-visual system which both provides sufficient facilities to meet the communication needs of organist and choirmaster, whilst remaining visually unobtrusive in a grade one listed building. Facilities provide both audio relay from the choir to the organ and two Pan/Tilt/Zoom cameras which allow the organist to watch the conductor and choir or priest. A touch panel control provides camera and audio controls, and the touch panel and monitors slide away in a custom housing when not in use, maintaining the traditional look of the organ.
Teaching Rooms - Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry, Plymouth
The teaching of dentistry presents some particular challenges in providing visibility for a number of students to observe complex procedures carried out within a patient's mouth. We designed and installed systems within an active dental surgery. Our design allows the relay of signals to the adjacent observation room and simultaneous recording and dissemination across platforms via campus-wide network. A PTZ camera centred on the dental chair, an intra-oral camera with a mounting and camera purpose-designed and installed by MK2AV are relayed and recorded in a time-aligned single file along with mixed audio from microphones in each room, and a lavalier microphone for the lecturer.
Discreet Audio Systems - Our Lady and the English Martyrs, Cambridge
We worked with an acoustic engineer to design a comprehensive audio system within this Grade 1 listed building.
Innovative BMR loudspeakers were used, and each is individually time-aligned and levelled to provide seamless audio throughout the space. The system usually operates fully automatically, via presets selected from unobtrusive push-button controllers, but a wireless touchpanel with custom graphics allows for complete control. In addition to the voice reinforcement systems, an independent Organ reinforcement system provides improved intelligibility and projection of the organ through the nave of the church via two DSP-controlled loudspeakers mounted discreetly at the Triforium.
Interactive Audio Visual System - Wheal Martyn Museum, Cornwall
We provided a complete service of design, installation and digital content creation in order to improve the visitor experience in the UK's only museum of China Clay mining. We worked closely with the museum's curator and education officer as well as volunteers to develop their ideas for both the exhibition and the content, we designed and created a range of new exhibits including interactive touchpanel tablets for which we created and coded HTML5 interactive content, a hands-on play and learn exhibit, a soundscape recreating the bustle of the pan kiln, static information panels, and an interactive display which also doubles as a presentation space. We carried out all aspects of this project in house, including digitising digital content, and planning the integration of new with existing exhibits.
Major Media Company - Knightsbridge
We were employed as sub-contractors to install a custom system based around the Tandberg T3 telepresence system at a major media company in Knightsbridge. Within this project, we provided design services, redesigning the system to retain all of the functionality of the Tandberg systems and add additional functions to meet the clients' requirements. System integration includes a custom graphical user interface and the services provided by us include all processing built into an integrated equipment rack within the leg of the custom table, and all signal and cable management to ensure a truly seamless experience for the users.
